I am writing this review approximately one year after purchase of my Country Cupboard Pfaltzgraff set.  I was raised near Lancaster, PA.; because Pfaltzgraff was a local company (York, PA.) I grew up with their products.  Over the course of the last 45 years, my mother purchased TWO Pfaltzgraff patterns.  They saw heavy, daily use by our big, active farm-family, but as they were so well made, each lasted around 20 years.  When I was married in the 90s, I bought my first Pfaltzgraff pattern and it was nearly as good.  As a young woman, I worked near the Pfaltzgraff outlet and I collected pieces in my hope chest, just waiting to have the same quality dinnerware for my future family.  Needless to say, I developed a very hearty and sturdy brand loyalty to this company.

<br/>When we moved to a new home last year, I purchased this set for my family.  My children are older now and more careful, yet SOMEHOW the edges of the plates, cups, and bowls keep chipping!  In one year the glaze has become worn, scratched, pitted and crazed... these dishes look like they are more than a decade old!!  When you microwave any of the items in the set, it heats the dinnerware to such a degree that you can't remove the dish!  The food or drink, inside, remains cold, however.  My husband is SO convinced that they are going to explode in the microwave that he won't allow us to microwave them anymore.  The dishes are SO lightweight that they feel hollow; the substantial feel and weight of the old dinnerware is gone.  Of course, I learned sometime since my last purchase, that these dishes are now being made cheaply in China.  They are not the dependable local product that they used to be.  I'm SO very disappointed in this product and this company.
