I'm not a natural whiz with printers. Open my closet and you'll see three fairly new machines -- presented to me by well-meaning friends -- stacked up in the back, unusable because I could not get them to work. So when the new Epson Workforce 845 came through the mail, I opened it with some trepidation. The disarmingly simple-looking set-up directions did not work with my Apple MacBook laptop and I had to call Epson for help. The agent and I got off to a rocky start -- the low point came when he told me to call Apple instead -- but once we started seeing eye-to-eye the set-up went unbelievably fast. I've used the machine a few times now and am satisfied with everything so far. Aside from the crystal-clear copy, the most wondrous feature is its wireless connection, which is great for me moving around the house on my laptop. This evening I tried printing a file from downstairs from my office, where the machine sits. I never even turned it on. By the time I got to my office, the machine had already spat out my file. The second tray for an envelope or odd paper size is cool, too -- very convenient. I don't think this printer is going to the closet anytime soon.
